These Butternut Squash Flakes are made from fresh butternut squash that has been blanched, pureed and air-dried for easy use in recipes ranging from purees and soups to sauces and desserts.  Ready to use. No preparation necessary.

Basic Prep

To rehydrate, combine 2 parts Butternut Squash Flakes to 1 part water to achieve a thick puree consistency.

 

Suggestion Use:

  • Use to add flavor to soups, casseroles, pastas, salads, or breads
  • Add into macaroni and cheese for a new flavor twist
  • Bake into muffins or cake for a warm and savory seasonal addition
  • Blend with mashed potatoes for an upscale side dish

 

Description

  • Butternut Squash is a member of the Cucurbitaceae or gourd family, along with pumpkins, watermelon and cucumbers.

  • It has a tan to light yellow skin and a rich orange flesh that is most often either roasted or boiled and tastes similar to pumpkin or sweet potato.

  • Butternut is now the most popular among the winter squash varieties, although it was not commonly eaten until the 19th century. 

  • Butternut squash is naturally low in fat and sodium, as well as being a good source of fiber and vitamins A and C.
